Less power for the same hot water.
An air-source heat pump uses a small compressor to pull heat from the outside air into the tank, giving three to five times more heat than the electricity it uses. Reclaim Energy’s CO2 heat pump, for example, uses about 3 kWh of electricity to heat 315 litres, where an electric element tank needs about 15 kWh for the same water. Same shower, a fraction of the power.
